Ms. Elena Andino Villacorte is a University researcher at the Department of Parasitology, College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila. She is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Public Health, UPManila. She earned her Diploma in Applied Parasitology and Entomology at the Institute for Medical Research, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and her Master of Science at School of Applied Sciences, Monash University in Melbourne Australia. Ms. Villacorte enhanced her laboratory competency through training on malaria cultivation and different malaria assays at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, Melbourne, Australia and molecular studies of virulent isolates of Malaria at Gunma University School of Medicine, Japan.

Her research interests are malaria, amoeba and schistosoma. She has been Principal investigator, Co- investigator and research associate of several researches. Other research interest is testing of herbal extracts against parasites like malaria, amoeba and helminths. Results of researches has been published in local and international journals. She has attended several conferences as speaker or for poster presentation.

Ms. Villacorte is very active in training medical technologists from regional, provincial and municipal health offices. She was also invited by PAMET regional chapters as resource speaker and trainor in Parasitology.
