He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Community Nutrition degree from University of the Philippines Diliman. He took up the Nutrition and Dietetics Licensure Examination (NDLE) in 2001 and emerged as the Board Topnotcher (1st Placer). Afterwhich, he completed his Master of Public Health degree from University of the Philippines Manila College of Public Health and was awarded with the highest in Comprehensive Examination in 2009. Currently, he is a candidate for the Doctor of Public Health (Nutrition) program also in UP Manila and is now at the dissertation stage. He is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Nutrition where he handles undergraduate and graduate courses in Nutrition and Biochemistry. Prior to his teaching post in UP Manila, he was an Instructor at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition in UP Diliman and as a Clinical Nutritionist-Dietitian at the Philippines Children’s Medical Center.

He provides extension services to UNICEF Philippines as Project Coordinator on the project Resiliency on Evidenced-based Planning for Resilient Local Health Systems (rEBAP). This aims at improving the ability of health systems to absorb the impact of and respond to the varying health needs that occur following a disaster event. It involves systematically assessing the elements of the health system that make it resilient (or not). This includes maintenance of the essential routine health services delivered under "normal" conditions as well as responding to the increased burden of mortality and morbidity that occur as a result of a disaster event. He also lend his time as Course Coordinator for some of the National Training Courses of the Health Emergency Management Bureau- Department of Health namely the National Public Health Emergency Management in Asia and the Pacific. He has also been coordinating the Course on Food Safety, a biannual training course of the department since 2011. Because of his accomplishments in the teaching and research of Nutrition in Emergency, Dietary Assessment and Food Safety, he was awarded the UP Manila Professorial Chair in 2013.

He is also active in the affairs of the Nutritionist-Dietitian Association of the Philippines, the only Accredited Professional Organization for Registered Nutritionist-Dietitian recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission, as one of the elected Board of Directors. He got elected last 2013 and was re-elected again this year to serve for another 2 years. He has also been regularly invited as Board Reviewer for Nutritional Biochemistry for the Nutrition and Dietetics Licensure Examination (NDLE) by the Nutritionist-Dietitian Association of the Philippines NDLE Review, Consultants for Health and Nutrition, Inc NDLE Review and the Western Mindanao State University Nutrition NDLE Review as part of his commitment on giving back to his profession.
