Dr. Ma. Susan Yanga-Mabunga is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Health Policy and Administration. Her primary interest is dental public health and her advocacy has been on the promotion of Oral Health in the Philippine. Dr. Mabunga is an alumni of the University of the Philippines College of Dentistry (Doctor of Dental Medicine) and of the University of Adelaide, Faculty of Dentistry (Social and Preventive Dentistry). While most of her research works are focused on Oral Health, Social impact of Oral diseases and Disorders and Fluoride. She has also collaborated with other members of the Dept. of Health Policy and Administration to work on other public health topics such as the Vulnerabilities of the Local Government Scorecard System, The Evaluation of the Medical Specialists Pool of the DOH. She has involved herself in several training programs that are offered by the Department, specifically on Total Quality Management, Dental Public Health and on Health Service Management. Central to all of her work is her advocacy for Health and Development, Universal Health Care and Equity in Health. Her previous work included the National Oral Survey Among Public School Children which was done in collaboration with the University of Jena, GTZ and the Department of Education. She has written several modules on Oral Health, Health and Development and Monitoring and Evaluation.

Currently Dr. Mabunga is working on several community trials in collaboration with the University of the Philippines College of Dentistry Unang Ngipin Patibayin Program for children ages 6 months to 3 years old, and among Public School Children in Pasay City. Both collaborations are being done with different corporate partners and involves the use of fluoride varnish as a possible public health intervention for the Philippines. Dr. Mabunga also serves as Vice Chair of the Alliance for Cavity Free Future (Philippines Chapter) that is advocating for more focus on prevention of dental caries. She currently goes around the country to give lectures on the International Caries Detection and Assessment System in Partnership with Colgate Philippines and the Philippine Dental Association. Her other works have been on Affordable Fluoride Toothpaste.

Dr. Yanga-Mabunga was the chair of the Department of Health Policy and Administration from 2008 until 2013, and was the College Representative of the Office of Student Affairs from 2004 until 2013. She was also program coordinator for the MPH and MHA academic programs when it was offered as a distance education program of the UP Open University. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Dental Public Health, Health Services Management, International health and Total Quality Management. She is also an Associate Memeber of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and an alumni of the LIKAS organization and the UP Christian Youth Movement (UPCYM).
