Ronald G. Garvilles, RCh, PhD
Associate Professor

Dr. Ronald Garingalao Garvilles is a licensed chemist. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, magna cum laude, from the University of Santo Tomas in 2004. His interest in food and nutrition led him to further studies, and he eventually earned Diploma in Nutrition from Hattori Nutrition College in Tokyo, Japan in 2008 as a Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholar. In 2011, he finished his Master of Science in Bioscience Technology from Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan, as a recipient of Distinguished International Graduate Student (DIGS) Scholarship. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences at the Institute for Protein Research, Osaka University, Japan in 2015, also as a Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholar.

Dr. Garvilles joined the Department of Nutrition, College of Public Health as an Associate Professor through the Balik-PhD Program of the University of the Philippines. Among his research interests are nutrigenomics and epigenetics, with particular focus on the association between diet and methylation patterns in human genome.
