Dr. Marcelo Jaochico

As the whole world continues to battle an unseen public health menace (SARS-CoV2), thousands of capeless heroes unselfishly devote their time and energy caring for our brethren who have fallen ill because of this dreaded virus. Unfortunately, one of our heroes, Dr. Marcelo Y. Jaochico, has fallen and lost to this nemesis.

Dr. Jao served as a Doctor to the Barrio for 16 years in Calanasan, Apayao where he helped the community combat Dengue, Malaria, and other diseases. He was a graduate of the UP Manila – College of Public Health’s Master of Health Administration program. And, has served as Pampanga’s provincial health officer. Until his last day, Dr. Jao has demonstrated to us what a TRUE PUBLIC HEALTH SERVANT is --- performing his duties and responsibilities for the common good of the people despite the risks of acquiring COVID-19 due to his job as a medical doctor as well as his age.

The CPH Community – officials, faculty, REPS, staff, students, alumni, and other members would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. Jaochico who passed away on March 24, 2020.

We would like to ask for prayers for the eternal repose of his soul and consolation for his bereaved wife and children.

The Philippines lost another capeless hero and true public health servant but you and your legacy will forever be remembered.
